CALETA OLIVIA: located on the coast of the gulf San Jorge in Santa Cruz's province 80 kilometers to the south of Comodoro Rivadavia by the national route #3. During this itinerary, from Comodoro Rivadavia to Caleta Olivia, the road skirts the sea coast with several beaches, cliffs and beautiful views on the pathagonian coast. In 1901 Caleta Olivia was founded but it has an important growth starting from the beginning of the oil activity in the region. Y.P.F., the former state company of hydrocarbons, had a momentous incidence in the development of all the oil areas of Argentina. And in this area, besides Comodoro Rivadavia and Caleta Olivia, the cities Pico Truncado and Las Heras were also developed, both to the Southwest of Caleta Olivia. |
