HORNOPIREN (oven of snow) it is a town of almost 1,200 inhabitants, head of the commune, located at the base of the volcano Hornopirén,1600 meters high. You arrive leaving Puerto Montt, after traveling the first 100 kilometers of the Southern Highway (route 7), but half the way, it is necessary to cross the Reloncaví estuary by ferry (from La Arena to Puelche). Hornopiren has simple but good hotels, fuel station, restaurants, camping site and tourist information. |
