To
Puerto Guadal:
leave from Cochrane toward the north by the southern highway.
After 19 kilometers you will cross the bridge on the river Chacabuco,
having gone by the valley of the same name, a place with excellent
lands for the cattle raising. Before arriving to the fork of the
river Baker with the river Nef you can stray for a path to see
the impressive Jump of the Baker. To 46 kilometers you will find
the cabins ‘Rápidos del Río Baker’ from
where they are organized fishing trips. Next you will find a deviation
to the left of just 3 kilometers that will take you to Puerto
Bertrand, a beautiful village in the bank of the homonymous lake,
in which will find camping site, cabins, fishing lodge and rent
of boats. Recapturing the original road will see the birth of
the River Baker of waters turquoise color and to the 66 kilometers
you will meet with the crossing El Maitén. If you take
to the left you will travel an itinerary of 6 kilometers to arrive
to the drainage of the Lake General Carrera. And if you opts for
the one that goes to the right heading to Chile Chico, after 10
kilometers you will arrive to Puerto Guadal. The drainage of the
lake General Carrera is beside the lake Bertrand; it offers the
biggest tourist concentration in the sector with several complexes
of excellent cabins, fishing lodges, rent of boats and horses,
variety of trips, mountaineering and trekking. Puerto Guadal is
located in a very closed bay with 500 inhabitants and a beautiful
beach that is called ‘Perla del Lago’. |
