to visit in the city |
• The Municipal Secretary of Tourism, the Intendency of the
National Park Lanín, the Museum of the Pioneers and the Church
San José, where a reproduction of the Sacred Shroud is exhibited
in natural size.
• The city in itself is a beautiful walk for the construction
of its typical housings of mountain, the trade of crafts and the
possibility of converging to restaurants, pubs and coffee shops.
leaving by the national route #234 until the monument to the Virgin
of the Mountain. There you take to the left by the provincial route
#48 to the access portal to the National Park Lanín and after
traveling 4 kilometers you’ll find on the left a deviation
that takes to the mirador located 800 meters high. From there one
can observe the lake Lácar, the hills Abanico, Vizcacha,
Comandante Díaz, Curruhuinca, Sabana and the Stone of Trompul.
This trip can be carried out on foot if you take the path that begins
in the last pedestrian crossing of the stream Pocahullo, before
its outlet in the lake Lacar.

To
Arrayan balcony and Centenario Natural Reserve |
leaving from the Port of San Martín de los Andes, with the
lake to the right, you arrives to a bifurcation of roads where it
is the monument to the General Rudecindo Roca, founder of San Martín
de los Andes. Take to the left there and just 3 kilometers ahead
is the deviation that leads to the mirador Arrayán. To 100
meters from the mirador is the Natural Reservation Centenario. From
this sector of the hill Comandante Díaz is obtained a beautiful
panoramic view of the city of San Martín de los Andes and
the lake Lácar.
leaving San Martín de los Andes by the national route #234
toward the Southwest after 4 kilometers is the access to this beach
located on the south bank of the lake Lácar. It is very visited
in summer, because it is surrounded of forests and their waters
are capable for the practice of nautical sports. It has a coffee
shop and organized camping site.

the lakes Meliquina and Filo Hua Hum |
by the national route #234 skirting the lake Lácar by the
south margin after traveling 30 kilometers when crossing the bridge
on the river Hermoso, take the deviation toward Paso Córdoba.
From this bifurcation by the provincial route #63 to 6 kilometers
is the lake Meliquina, 8 kilometers long and very good fishing.
Continuing by this route toward Paso Córdoba (you also arrive
to Confluencia Traful) it opens up a road to the right by which
you consents to the lake Filo Hua Hum. These two lakes are surrounded
of forested hills where the coihues and cypresses are plentiful.
to arrive at this lake it is necessary to take the provincial
route #62 and to travel 12 kilometers toward the north. The lake
Lolog has very good fishing and in its oriental end the river
Quilquihue is born that some kilometers ahead overturn their waters
to the river Chimehuín.

Hua Hum International Pass |
it is necessary to leave San Martín de los Andes by the national
route #234 toward Junín de los Andes until the monument to
the Virgin of the Mountain. There you take the provincial route
#48 and after 8 kilometers the pampas of the Trompul is crossed,
where the stone of the same name is. 20 kilometers ahead you arrive
to the Sectional Yuco of the National Park Lanín. In that
place there is a free camping site, it is admitted the fishing and
they can be practiced nautical sports. To 12 kilometers of Yuco
you arrive to La Angostura, union of the lakes Lácar and
Nonthué, where the river Hua Hum is born that takes its waters
to the Ocean Pacific. If we continue by the route #48 we arrive
to the International Step Hua Hum, the lowest in the whole Mountain
range of the Andes, but to continue traveling through Chile it is
necessary to cross the lake Pirihueico in a ferry. Crossing the
bridge on the river Hua Hum (excellent for the rafting) after traveling
1,200 meters take a deviation to the right and 500 more meters to
the left it is connected with the access to the cascade Chachín.
A fall of water of 30 meters encased between rocks and abundant
vegetation. This whole area is very humid, such it is so Hua Hum
it means “humid or rainy place” and/or “hole in
the roof.” This is another of the trips that can be carried
out embarked leaving from the port of San Martín de los Andes.
