This beach is 20 km away from Puerto
Madryn. Every year, mother whales and their breeding
get here looking for peaceful waters and because of
the coast slope,
they can stay at 20 or 30 metres from them. Thus, we
can watch them from land. It works the same way than
June to November sighting. |

| Places
to visit in the city |
• The Museum of the End of the World, a large house of principles
of the XX century in which pieces elaborated by the primitive inhabitants
of Tierra del Fuego are conserved, objects built by the prisoners
of the prison, a room of birds where all the species that inhabit
in the island are shown and testimonies of the history of the city.
• The old prison of Ushuaia that worked between 1902 and 1947
conserving one of the cell-room wings in original state. In this
place the marine museum also works.
• The avenue Maipú, coastal of Ushuaia that skirts
the channel of Beagle. From the tourist jetty the catamarans that
carry out the trips leave.
• The port, where you can visit one another some old ships,
to see the fishing ones that discharge spider crabs or the ships
that take the tourists to ‘Isla de los Estados’ and
the Antarctica.
Ushuaia is synonymous of winter sports: ski, snowboard, walks in
sleds thrown by dogs, or in snow-cats. There are several centers
to those that you consent by the national route #3:
Valley of ‘Tierra Mayor’, to 22 kilometers of Ushuaia,
the most complete in Tierra del Fuego. This center was pioneer in
the practice of the wind-ski. They also rent motor-sleds and snow-cats.
Le Martial, to 7 kilometers of the city. It has a funicular that
allows you to have a beautiful view on the channel of Beagle and
the glacier Martial.
Altos del Valle, to 17 kilometers of Ushuaia, where a dog hatchery
exists for sled, they rent teams and rackets for snow. They also
organize voyages in sled or on foot until the glacier Alvear.
Valle de los Huskies, located 20 kilometers from Ushuaia. They are
carried out trips in sleds thrown by Siberian dogs traveling spectacular
places. In the summer they are organized cavalcades, trekking and
walks in four-trac. |
| Via

For the incoming season the Via Australis Expedition cruise will
act as the Mare Australis new brother with same features. Both cruises
will navigate the Magellan straight, the Beagle channelpe Horn,
exploring one of the most beautiful virgin areas in the world, like
the Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.
There are two different choices, a 3 or a 4 night program from Ushuaia
to Punta Arenas and viceversa, from September to April.
