How to visit Torres del Paine

The two basic options to visit the National Park Torres del Paine are: by car and walks (trekking or hiking).
By car they can be traveled near 100 kilometers of circuits, very well equipped being able to observe in the voyages beautiful landscapes, going by jumps of water, rivers, lakes, lagoons and more.
As for the trekking or hiking in the area (walks), there is a lot of variety of journeys, going by paths carefully layouts, signed and equipped and with itineraries and duration that can go from some hours, until, for example, to give the complete turn to the imposing Massif of the Paine crossing valleys, hills, rivers and going by glaciers and lakes, voyage that can be prolonged up to 10 days.

Fauna

There are 25 species of mammals approximately in the National Park among those that stand out the gump, the puma, the gray fox, the chingue patagonico and several others.
Also the 'huemules' were re-introduced with success by the biologist Gladys Garay, in the surroundings of the lake Grey.
They also inhabit more than 110 species of birds among those that are condors, eagles, swans, flamingos, taguas, caiquenes, ducks and ñandues.

Flora

The flora can be divided in four well differentiated groups: 1) heath pre-andean heath, in the area of the lake Sarmiento, Salto Grande and mirador Nordenskjöld 2) magellan forest, in lake Grey, Azul lagoon, valley Pingo, Amarga lagoon, valle del Francés and glacier Grey 3) magellan Tundra (mosses), in diverse sectors and 4) desert of height, open vegetation and little developed that it goes disappearing as the height increases.

TORRES DEL PAINE National Park. Declared by the UNESCO Biosphere World Reserve. Located 113 kilometers to the north of Puerto Natales, between the Andes and the plateau.

With a surface of about 242,000 hectares in whose central part is the mountain range of Paine, formed by a series of hills of up to 3,200 meters high, some with a very particular form, as the famous horns of the Paine.

This group of hills in Torres del Paine is surrounded by lakes and glaciers: to the north the lakes Dickson, Paine and the Azul lagoon. To the south, the lakes Grey, Pehoé, Nordenskjold and Sarmiento. To the east, the Amarga lagoon.

Inside the National Park there are approximately 100 kilometers of circuits to travel in car and several paths to do trekking, even one for those most trained ones that it surrounds the towers. Through them you will be able to visit lakes, rivers, water falls and glaciers of an absolute beauty.

Trekking / hiking: people of all parts of the world arrive to carry out this activity. The park possesses countless and beautiful paths of different grade of difficulty and with journeys of different duration.

It is advisable to go accompanied by expert guides since the sudden climatic changes can alter the physiognomy of some paths (they cover of snow), causing the walker's disorientation.
